The theme of our banquet this year is "Leading the Change." With the Grace and Mercy of Almighty Allah (SWT) CAIR-FL continues to make impressive progress in defending the right of Muslims living in Florida, engaging the public and raising awareness about critical issues, and promoting a positive imagine of Islam and Muslims. Our success is YOUR success You have always supported the cause of Muslim civil rights and we thank you for your sincere and continuous support. We have assembled an inspiring group of speakers and comedians for this year's banquet, including: *SIRAJ WAHHAJ Imam Siraj Wahhaj is the Imam of Al-Taqwa mosque in Brooklyn, New York and a leader of The Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA). Siraj has been active in many Islamic organizations. He has been Vice President of the Islamic Society of North America since 1997 and has served on the Majlis al Shura, a consultative council of Islamic scholars, since 1987. In 1991 Siraj offered an invocation (opening prayer) to the United States House of Representatives. He was the first Muslim to do so. In addition, Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright hosted Imam Siraj and other notable scholars for Ramadan. Our keynote speaker for the evening is Dr. Mark Levine, Professor of Modern Middle East and Islamic Studies at the University of California-Irvine. He is a leader of the "new generation" of Middle East & Islam Studies. We are also fortunate to have comedian Ahmed Ahmed from the acclaimed "Axis of Evil Comedy Tour."
